Wow, What a Day!!!

Spent the day touring the Algona Community School District. I was treated to walk through tours of all the buildings, discussions with staff on programs and philosophies, and great opportunities to watch teachers in action. It was so interesting and reminded me of why I do what I do. Everyone in education should have the opportunity to do the same. Thankyou Algona School District!! Now to bring the conversations back to staff...

  1. I hope you had a great day. I'm sure that you did, and I'm sure that it was an opportunity to learn from others and experience through observation.

  2. If you listen to teacher (which should be done) and if you listen to support staff (why you would not) and if you could offer students the opportunity to contribute ( just makes sense) and administrators listen to themselves (which should be done more)... the over all comment is .. Visiting other schools, talking to other teachers, observing other students, is the most valuable thing that educational professionals can do. How can this be done more? I think through technology to a point but it has to be a mind set that the top down need to buy into, organize, and get done!!! I hope to make that my goal if an administrative position is ever offered to me.

  3. I really look forward to talking to other educators (teachers, administrators, and superintendents) but think Iwould like to be involved in conversation at an even different level (Community college) Now how to make it happen. That level sounds so relevent just like elementary to middle school etc. So many students are taking college credit classes and want to know from the college level teachers how that is working,or not.
